These past months, excluding settling into my new life, have been all about dreaming of a vacation where i can escape somewhere far into the unknown areas of Bali, having folkloric thoughts about the upcoming winter with plans of going skiing and having forest adventures, hanging out with friends doing absolutely nothing but talking for hours, exploring the street of London to find the winner of my "cutest independent coffee shop" competition and getting excited about the history of fashion, particularly the period between 1900-1930. So here's a little sum up for all the things that have gotten me psyched this month.

books.

how to be parisian wherever you are by sophie mas, audrey divan, caroline de maigret and anne berest

I went through this masterpiece in two days only, which for a slow reader like me is quite impressive. It was so intelligent in how it was entertaining yet informative. This is one of those books that I know I'll go over and read again if I ever need help with anything.

Life as a student at the University for the Creative Arts Epsom has been somewhat exactly what I expected, and yet some things have come as a complete surprise to me. The unhealthy lifestyle (sleeping in, not eating proper meals and having them at unnatural times), lack of clean clothing and constant partying were things i expected from the daily schedule of a student. This was all something I wanted to experience as I grow up into the responsible adult I'm supposed to be. I wanted to go through it so I can learn how to live the cheapest life I can, know how to make the quickest meals for when you're in a rush and learn as much as I can of course. My life has basically consisted of navigating through the London underground system, trying to find the coolest places to hangout in London and sleeping too little. As I have been going to uni for almost two months already, I feel like I have already grasped the student lifestyle and know what I need to do to improve it. I have participated in the stereotypical freshers events an art school has to offer and I must say it opened the door to a possible lifestyle that I would love to be a part of. Let me explain this: the girl who lives this life is one who goes to exhibitions and galleries in London on a weekly basis, she checks out restaurants in a part of town that the university labelled hip, sits in a park while reading the newest independent fashion magazine issue and goes for drinks at a bar where she knows that all the important people in the industry go; just so she could get a chance to get an interview. She's done with nasty clubs that only students go to in a small town, has applied for numerous jobs in fashion and constantly updates her blog in the hopes of a bigger readership. Of course in my case that person is not me, as it requires so much more effort and motivation. Maybe one day...

My first time carving a pumpkin! Can you guess which ones mine?

Having lived in London for quite a while now I felt like it was time for me to tell you about my favourite spots in the city that I have already ventured to. London is much larger in size than I realized, and it also has so much more going on than SOHO and so much more to offer than I ever would have imagined. Even though I live on the outskirts of the city, I always try to make excuses to travel uptown, and will do so around twice a week. See I feel like if I have come all the way over here, I should be taking full advantage of living in a terrific place such as London and be exploring all the wonderful places it has to offer; this post is also a reminder for myself to keep doing so. The best things to do are things that I couldn't do in either Singapore or Finland and that are just unique to this exuberant city. Recently, I have been visiting a bunch of places I haven't been in earlier so I just want to share these with you so you can also enjoy them and that I can share my love for this place. I would love to keep exploring, so I would greatly appreciate it if you could live any suggestions of places that I have yet to see in the comments below!

Camden Market

•  Macchiato at KOI or any other cafe for that EXCEPT for Starbucks

•  Clarke Quay: the best thing is being able to go out and just have one destination with the best selection of bars and clubs and having it a walking distance from home

•  Fast internet speed: this is definitely one of those things that you only learn to appreciate when it's gone, no matter if you're in the middle of the jungle or on the 70th floor, internet speed is always impeccable

•  Marina Bay: one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen it presents itself as the perfect jogging, hanging out, clubbing and shopping area and you will surely be aesthetically pleased

•  Transportation: nowhere else can you be sure to get a cheap taxi at anytime, anywhere or a subway or bus with sufficient air conditioning that are always completely clean

•  The weather: the best thing about this is that you never have to think twice before going for the daily shorts-top-sandals combo

• Orchard Road: it's almost impossible to have such a wide array of shops: from cheap to ridiculously over priced and from independent Singaporean designers to H&M, Orchard has it all  plus the shops are open until 10-11pm everyday which allows night time shopping with less people and cooler air

•  Brunches: the best stereotypical expat activity is definitely going out for brunches: what could be better than combining my two favorite meals and just sitting around talking and eating for hours?

•  Ladies night: going out on a wednesday for in Singapore is a promise of a good night out: you will not be disappointed by the flow of free drinks
